- Implement new ReopenLogFile() and ReopenLogFileNotify() functions.
ReopenLogFileNotify() is a signal handler for SIGUSR2.
- Move the definition of the WRITES() macro from error.c to dm_error.h
so that dm.c can use it as well.
- Document xdm's signal handling in its manpage.

Ported parts of 905_debian_xdm.diff. Some changes are now done through
configure flags

* config/Xservers.ws.in
- add comments to help local admins
- run local server with TCP listening turned off for security
* config/Xsession.in: replace guts with simple call to Debian's Xsession
script
* config/xdm-config.in:
- Supply a simpler default configuration, so that no matter what X server
number is used, people get the same results.

Updated in 2025 from 2011 version to fit the migration from xdm 1.1.11

The explicit function prototype definition lacks detection of hurd
platform, which causes incompatibility in compiling with getpwnam(3).
