Status for audacity/4.0.1+dfsg-2
| Patch | Description | Author | Forwarded | Bugs | Origin | Last update |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1000_git_optional.patch | Make git optional for building The extdeps resolver only needs git for git-kind dependency sources (none are used by Audacity 4.0.1, all deps are tarballs) and for applying DEP_PATCHES via `git apply`. `find_program(GIT ... REQUIRED)` made a missing git binary a hard configure error even for pure tarball deps. This patch makes the lookup optional and falls back to `patch -p1` for applying the (few) DEP_PATCHES, so the package builds fully offline and without a git binary installed. Applies to muse_deps/buildtools/resolve.cmake (source-kind deps) and muse_deps/buildtools/build_dependency.cmake (library-kind deps built via build_dep()). |

| 0002_deactivate-fdk-aac.patch | Disable the fdk-aac based AAC exporter libfdk-aac is non-free, so a dependency on it would move the audacity binary package to contrib. The audio framework still links an AAC encoder against fdk-aac (muse_audio_engine), although no code path in the AU4 application uses it: both the regular export dialog and the cloud export go through the AU3 exporter (IExporter/Au3Exporter) instead. AAC/M4A export keeps working through the AU3 FFmpeg export plugin (mod-ffmpeg/ExportFFmpeg, FMT_M4A) which uses libavcodec, so removing the fdk-aac encoder loses no user-facing AAC export capability. This patch drops require_dep(fdk-aac) from the extdeps manifest, stops building aacencoder.cpp/.h into muse_audio_engine, drops the fdk-aac::fdk-aac link, and replaces the AacEncoder arm in soundtrackwriter.cpp with `return nullptr` (same effect, avoids a -Wswitch warning). |

| 1001_unversioned-share-dir.patch | Make the data share directory name overridable (AU4_INSTALL_NAME) The Muse-derived build would create a version-scoped data directory (share/audacity-4.0) for locale, workspaces and testflowscripts. Debian packages conventionally install into /usr/share/audacity (unversioned - only one version is installed per package). This wraps the AU4_INSTALL_NAME default in if(NOT DEFINED ...), so the value can be overridden from the package build: debian/rules passes -DAU4_INSTALL_NAME=audacity/. The AU3 side (PathList.cpp) already expects the unversioned share/audacity, and the runtime lookup (MUSE_APP_INSTALL_RESOURCES_LOCATION, compiled into the binary) derives from the same variable, keeping install and lookup consistent. |

| 0003_remove-system-qt-rpath.patch | Drop the redundant system Qt library path from the RUNPATH On Debian-based systems Qt6 is installed into the standard library search path (/usr/lib/<multiarch>) |

| 1002_fix-desktop-launcher-name.patch | Only set DESKTOP_LAUNCHER_NAME with "Portable" for portable builds The DESKTOP_LAUNCHER_NAME variable is set unconditionally with "Portable", causing non-portable builds to have "Portable" in the desktop file name. |
