| doc_sphinx_9.2_typing_union_fix.patch | Extend Sphinx 9 autodoc workarounds to Sphinx 9.2 Upstream mpi4py (PR#723) gates its Sphinx autodoc/autosummary workarounds (_patch_autosummary and _patch_autodoc) to Sphinx < 9.2, assuming Sphinx 9.2+ handles legacy typing.Union[...] type aliases natively. . Sphinx 9.2.0 still does NOT: the new autodoc dynamic loader (sphinx.ext.autodoc._dynamic._loader) unconditionally reads obj.__value__ when rendering an "autotype" entry, but typing.Union[...] objects have no such attribute. Documenting mpi4py.typing entries such as "Buffer" then aborts the docs build with: . AttributeError: 'typing.Union' object has no attribute '__value__' . Bump the gate from < (9, 2) to < (9, 3) so the mpi4py TypeAliasWrapper workaround (_patch_autodoc) is also applied for Sphinx 9.2.x, and the docs build succeeds with the Sphinx 9.2.0 now in Debian. |
