| fix-delayed-executor-shutdown-cancel-futures-race.patch | Cancel the task held by the scheduler on shutdown(cancel_futures=True) DelayedExecutorMixinBase.shutdown(cancel_futures=True) only cancels the futures still sitting in the scheduler queue, but _schedule() pops the task with the earliest deadline out of the queue and holds it while waiting for its deadline. A shutdown racing with that window missed the held task: it escaped the cancellation, ran after its delay, and shutdown(wait=True) blocked for the remaining delay. In the unit test suite this materialized as a random test_shutdown_cancel_futures_cancels_pending_tasks failure (around 60-80% on 1-2 CPU build machines, with python3.13 and python3.14 alike). . The scheduler now notices a completed shutdown request when it is woken while holding a task, and cancels the held (still pending) future itself. Also add a regression test which deterministically forces the held-task state for both the thread and green variants. |
