Debian Patches

Status for python-irc/20.5.0+dfsg1-1

Patch Description Author Forwarded Bugs Origin Last update
specify-package-data.patch Specify package data files to install. The upstream project configuration does not specify to install its own data
files.
.
We modify 'pyproject.toml' table `tool.setuptools.package_data` to explicitly
specify which data files to install.

remove-tracking-from-documentation.patch Remove tracking images from documentation. .
These remote-hosted “badges” are valid for documentation published at the
official site; for local documentation these are less useful, and
constitute a breach of privacy.
.
We remove each tracking image.
The images are removed for local package installation; this does not apply to
the upstream source.

remove-tidelift-tracking-banner.patch Remove tracking banner from documentation. .
The banner contains remote-hosted “badges”. These are valid for documentation
published at the official site; for local documentation these are less useful,
and constitute a breach of privacy.
.
We remove the tracking banner, and the dependency declared in the
documentation configuration.
The banner is removed for local package installation; this does not apply to
the upstream source.

correct-python3-shebang-in-example-scripts.patch Correct shebang for Python 3 example scripts. .
`PEP 394`_ recommends the shebang should not omit the major Python version:
.
Older Linux distributions will provide a python command that refers to
Python 2, and will likely not provide a python2 command.
Some newer Linux distributions will provide a python command that
refers to Python 3.
Some Linux distributions will not provide a python command at all by
default, but will provide a python3 command by default.
.
When potentially targeting these environments, developers may either
use a Python package installation tool that rewrites shebang lines for
the installed environment, provide instructions on updating shebang
lines interactively, or else use more specific shebang lines that are
tailored to the target environment.
.
.. _PEP 394: https://peps.python.org/pep-0394
.
We correct the example scripts to specify the Python 3 interpreter.

remove-broken-test-context-manager.patch Remove a context manager that is breaking upstream test cases. The `tests.test_client_aio.suppress_issue_197` context manager is
undocumented, and evidently breaks the test case
`tests.test_client_aio.test_privmsg_sends_msg`.
.
We simply remove the context manager and delete its definition.
