Debian Patches

Status for pytoolconfig/1.3.1-6

Patch Description Author Forwarded Bugs Origin Last update
0006-Return-Python-versions-allowed-by-requires-python.patch Return Python versions allowed by requires-python
min_py_version() and max_py_version() only probed versions up to the
running interpreter, and fell back to versions excluded by the
the versions mentioned in the specifier, and return None when no Python
3 version is allowed.

0007-Give-command-line-arguments-precedence-over-universa.patch Give command line arguments precedence over universal configuration
The documented load order puts the command line first, but universal
configuration values were applied after the command line arguments and
overrode them.

0008-Read-the-version-from-the-package-metadata.patch Read the version from the package metadata
_version.py looked for a pyproject.toml next to the package, which does
not exist once installed, so the version was always "UNKNOWN". Use
importlib.metadata, keeping the previous lookup for source checkouts.

0009-Use-the-first-source-configuring-the-tool-even-if-em.patch Use the first source configuring the tool even if empty
Without fall_through, a source returning an empty table was skipped as
if the tool was not configured, and a lower priority source was used
instead. Only skip sources returning None, as documented in
Source.parse().

0010-Use-built-in-generics-and-collections.abc.patch Use built-in generics and collections.abc
Replace the typing aliases Dict, List and Union with built-in generics
and the union operator, and import Callable, Generator, Mapping and
Sequence from collections.abc, deprecated in typing since Python 3.9.
Raise requires-python to 3.10 accordingly.

0011-Update-README.patch Update README
Document the features of the library and add a usage example. State that
Python 3.10 or later is required, as requires-python was raised to 3.10,
and run the tests with pytest instead of tox.

0004-Convert-Enum-values-when-fall_through-is-enabled.patch Convert Enum values when fall_through is enabled
With fall_through=True the configuration is merged with
_recursive_merge(), which assigned the raw values: Enum fields were left
as plain values and invalid ones were accepted silently. Share the
conversion with _dict_to_dataclass().

0005-Convert-string-values-to-bool-int-and-float-fields.patch Convert string values to bool, int and float fields
INI sources such as setup.cfg only provide strings, which were assigned
as they are: "false" ended up in a bool field as a truthy string. Convert
string values according to the field type, warning and keeping the
default when the value is invalid.

0003-Parse-boolean-command-line-values-explicitly.patch Parse boolean command line values explicitly
Boolean fields were registered with type=bool, so any non-empty value,
including "False", "0" and "no", was parsed as True. Accept the same
values as configparser and reject anything else.

0001-skip-test_find_pyproject.patch skip test_find_pyproject
Known to fail under pybuild.

0002-Resolve-postponed-annotations-of-configuration-model.patch Resolve postponed annotations of configuration models
With "from __future__ import annotations", dataclasses.Field.type is a
string, so subtables were left as dicts, Enum values were not converted
and setting up command line flags raised an exception. Resolve the
annotations with typing.get_type_hints().
