which in the Debian Rhdf5lib package resolves to the system HDF5 static
library and its dependencies; there is no longer a bundled Rhdf5lib.so to

hdf5-1.14.patch Build against the system HDF5 using the 1.10 API compatibility macros The upstream sources target the HDF5 1.10 API. Debian ships a newer HDF5,
so request the 1.10 API compatibility layer at compile time.

The original patch also adjusted src/H5constants.c for the removal of
H5I_REFERENCE in HDF5 1.14; that change has since been applied upstream and
