Debian Patches

Status for zstd-jni-java/1.5.7-23+ds-2

Patch Description Author Forwarded Bugs Origin Last update
import_pom.patch Import Maven upstream pom To allow Maven builds and avoid the unnecessary pain of sbt. not-needed https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/github/luben/zstd-jni/1.5.7-23/zstd-jni-1.5.7-23.pom 2022-10-20
modify_pom.patch Modify upstream pom to allow Debian build Olek Wojnar <olek@debian.org> not-needed 2022-10-20
fix_cmake.patch Modify upstream CMakeLists to allow Debian build Olek Wojnar <olek@debian.org> not-needed 2022-10-20
properly_version_so.patch Modify native library name to comply with Debian policy Also allows proper functioning of SONAME system as implemented in
fix_cmake.patch. This is required because upstream bundles the native binary
into the JAR file by default. Shipping the native binary separately adheres
better to Debian library standards and the patches are fairly trivial.

use_public_zdict_api.patch Use the public zstd dictionary builder API Since 1.5.6 upstream calls ZDICT_trainFromBuffer() with a sixth parameter
carrying the compression level. That parameter exists only in the bundled
copy of the dictionary builder, which Debian excludes to link against the
system libzstd, so the two call sites in jni_zdict.c fail to compile.
.
ZDICT_trainFromBuffer() is documented as a wrapper around
ZDICT_optimizeTrainFromBuffer_fastCover() with d=8 and steps=4, hardcoding
the default compression level because it has no way to receive one. Calling
that function directly gives the same dictionary and honours the level.
